Christian Character Development
Five Christ-shaped expectations, taught explicitly, celebrated weekly, and lived daily on every Sunlight campus.
The Five Expectations
Colossians 3:23
Galatians 6:5
Proverbs 4:23
1 Peter 2:17
John 13:34
How It Works
Teachers hand out S.T.A.R.S. cards whenever they catch a student living one of the five expectations — at recess, in line, in a quiet act of kindness. Each card is a specific, named encouragement.
A visual clip chart in every classroom helps students see and celebrate their day. Clips move up for living the S.T.A.R.S. expectations, and there is always grace to start again tomorrow.
Pajama days, ice-cream parties, field-day captain spots, and chapel shout-outs throughout the year reward consistent character growth — by class and by individual.
Students redeem the S.T.A.R.S. cards they've earned at our on-campus S.T.A.R.S. Store — books, small toys, school supplies, and Sunlight spirit items, all paid for in character.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6
S.T.A.R.S. is more than a discipline system — it is the visible language of a discipleship culture. Every card, every clip, every celebration is one small "well done" pointing children toward the Father who is shaping their hearts.
We'd love to walk you through every detail in person.
